For certain surgical procedures, we recommend at least one physical therapy visit prior to your surgery. This gives us a good idea of your pre-operative status and allows us to educate you regarding normal expectations post-operatively. Often we will prescribe safe exercises that should facilitate a speedier and more comfortable recovery. This should also reduce normal anxiety levels associated with “going under the knife”. Surgeries we strongly recommend at least one pre-op. visit are: ACL reconstruction, total knee replacement, hip labral reconstruction, and rotator cuff repair procedures.
